Richard MOISAN - a French painter who loves the Provence
| | Franco-Swiss artist Richard Moisan opened his studio-gallery in Vallauris in 1998. Moisan's colorful paintings reflect his passion for the French Riviera and Provence, particularly the Luberon countryside. Painted in broad strokes with a pallette knife, Moisan's vivid colors reflect the shimmer of the region's infinite sunlight. His thickly painted foregrounds vibrate with a life of their own, in contrast to the quiet, transparent backgrounds of earth, sea and sky, creating a harmony of composition where landscapes, florals and seascapes become representational portraits of themselves. His canvases invite the viewer to step inside and bathe in the captured light and joy, walk the hillsides of the Luberon, listen to the gentle sounds of the sea, and breathe the fragrance of a bright bouquet of flowers.
